Other big and important cities are San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas and Forth Worth.

Today it is three federal approved Indian tribes with belonging to Texas: , Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas and Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo of Texas.
In 1543 Luis de Moscoso discovered oil in existing Texas. When the first Spanish discoverers arrived, the area was just sparsely populated of several Indian tribes. In 1720 to 1722 it was occupied by Markis de Aguavo because that Spain feared that France would claim the territory.
The earlier president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas November 22 in 1963.
George W. Bush, who also was an earlier president in USA, was governor in Texas in the years 1994-2000.
Language
Most of the East-Texas, Sentral-Texas and North-Texas are populated by white Protestants; witch mainly comes from the Great Britain.
Numbers from the year 2000 showed that 68, 76 % of the population had English as their mother language, and for example 27, 00 % had Spanish as their mother language.
